Through extensive CFD simulations and Wind tunnel tests utilizing digital twins, we’ve optimized the rim section design to drastically reduce air resistance.
This, in turn, significantly reduces aerodynamic weight and contributes to a lowered CdA, making this high rim wheel remarkably easy to handle and lightweight.
The second part of the “hourglass” design further refines airflow toward the wheel’s center, optimizing the spokes and the hub flange.
Compmech engineers (COMPUTATIONAL MECHANICS & ADVANCED MATERIALS) collaborated with the TOOT design team to balance aerodynamic optimization with increased stiffness (approximately 28% higher than the AREA 51 wheel) reducing the weight under the kilo.
The Hourglass HG95 has been engineered for clincher tires, which, in laboratory and field tests, have demonstrated lower rolling resistance and improved driveability.
However, since we don’t just sell wheels but also design, develop, and build them, the HG95T is also available with a tubular tire bed. The hub comes with oversize bearings coated with stainless/ceramic (Ceraminox) Silicon Nitride, providing exceptional smoothness, along with TOOT CRMX treatment.
